Berkelouw Books & Music is located on Norton Street, one of Sydney's most popular restaurant strips. The Leichhardt store is spacious and cosmopolitan, incorporating an Aboriginal art gallery (Walkabout), two cafes Mondo and the Book Lounge Cafe, a performance space and a new and secondhand CD store.

Downstairs features an extensive selection of new and rare books, while upstairs houses thousands of secondhand books on a huge variety of topics as well as new and secondhand CDs. You will find music from almost every corner of the world including Iceland, Africa, the Caribbean, Tibet and beyond. Recordings of hard to find Jazz, Blues, Reggae, Bluegrass, Klezmer, Cajun, Zydeco and world music sit alongside historical and anthropological recordings. Classical music is also well represented in addition to some early music, Opera, Instrumental and Orchestral recordings.

Philosophy, poetry and concert nights are held regularly in the comfortable and intimate environs of the Book Lounge Cafe, and special events featuring well known writers and thinkers occur every week.

Open 10 am - 11 pm Sunday to Thursday, and 10 am - midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Directions

From the city go west along Broadway and Parramatta road until you hit Norton St where you will turn right. Berkelouw bookstore is at number 70 on your left, across the street from Norton Plaza. From the city you can take the following bus routes: 436, 437, 438, 440.
